Athlete seeks Minister Vij's help for Government Job

National-Level Athlete appeals to Haryana Minister Vij for Government Job support

National-level athlete Renu Chhikara, who clinched a bronze medal two years ago, is facing hurdles in securing a government job in Haryana despite the state's sports policy. Chhikara, from Sonepat district, revealed that she is yet to receive a job under the outstanding sportsperson quota, a provision that has already benefited 25 other athletes.

After winning the national-level athletic competition bronze medal two years ago, Renu Chhikara has been struggling to secure a government job as outlined in Haryana's sports policy. The policy includes a provision for outstanding sportspersons to be appointed to roles within the sports department, with Chhikara rightfully expecting a coaching position.

Seeking intervention from Home Minister Anil Vij

Expressing her concerns, Chhikara met with Haryana's Home Minister Anil Vij, seeking his intervention in the matter. Despite being eligible for the coaching position, her application was inexplicably rejected. Minister Vij, understanding the urgency of the situation, assured Chhikara of all possible assistance and promptly forwarded her application to the additional chief secretary of the sports department.

Chhikara's case sheds light on the challenges faced by athletes in realizing the promises outlined in sports policies, highlighting the need for a more streamlined and effective implementation process to ensure deserving athletes receive the opportunities they rightfully deserve.
